Hosting For Your Own Website

When you decide you like the idea of having your own website you are faced with a whole host of decisions but the first question is where will you host your website.

You have a few different choices. If you simply want to run a blog you could use some of the free blogs available online such as Blogger.com or wordpress.com and if you just want to put up a web page you could use free sites like Hubpages.com or build what is called a lens at Squidoo.com

These sites will cost you nothing but you are dependent on them being happy with your site and you face the possibility that they may, for whatever reason they like, take down their site and/or your pages anytime they choose. You have no control over whether your site continues to be displayed on their servers.

If you want to feel in control of your own online destiny you should seriously consider getting your own hosting account with an established and experienced hosting service. There are lots of them but there are also plenty of dodgy services that come and go overnight at very cheap prices that seem too good to miss.

The reality is that your site is too important to risk over a couple of dollars a month so stick with one of the excellent hosting providers that are well known and established.

My personal recomendation goes to Hostgator. They are hosting this website you are looking at now. I have been with them for a couple of years and their service has been outstanding. Reliability of the servers has been better tha most other companies I have tried and the price is ridiculously low for the service provided and the amount of webspace and bandwidth with packages starting at just $4.95 per month. On the basis of my own personal experience I give them my whole-hearted recommendation. Check out the different packages they offer here… >Hostgator
